Moving back to my hometown and building a new life with my two daughters, Stella and Daisy, brings more than a few challenges. And while I missed my family and the sense of community, I don’t know how she feels about me coming back. It doesn’t take long for Vivi and I to cross paths and when we do, I’m reminded that Genevieve Davies isn’t just the girl next door. She never has been.

I never could’ve imagined Stella and Daisy waltzing right into my classroom, and my life, without a warning. But here they are, leaving the literal door wide open for Grady to follow closely behind.

And only my luck would land me in the position of having to plan a semester long fundraiser with him. As we work closer together, the years we spent apart slowly melt away. I begin to remember what it felt like to be near him. Years of miscommunications and silence suddenly seem unimportant in comparison to the feelings that come roaring back. But we aren’t kids anymore and there’s infinitely more on the line this time around.

With all of these new changes, will Grady and I be able to move beyond the past and figure out if we have a future? What does that even look like and where do we go from here?
